Chlorosense explores plant sentience as a framework for reimagining nonhuman intelligence beyond anthropocentric paradigms. Engaging with speculative design, decentralized cognition, and posthuman theory, the project creates an immersive experience that sensitizes visitors to cognitive modalities characterized by decentralization and slowness inherent to plant life.
The installation comprises three interconnected components: a speculative codex documenting imagined plant species with scientifically inspired behaviors; a sculptural entity crafted from resin and PVC, animated by Arduino-controlled water pumps; and a responsive environment where visitors' movements trigger shifts in lighting and projection. The aesthetics prioritize subtlety and ambiguity over immediacy, mirroring the slow, adaptive temporalities of plant perception and encouraging patient, reflective engagement with nonhuman intelligence.
